Martin Duursma: I’m Martin Duursma, one of the mentors for the ON programme.

My background is really around having been a Business Technologist.

[Camera zooms in on Martin Duursma talking to the camera]

So, somebody that really understands customer needs, technology trends and can apply it to business solutions and that’s the sort of stuff that really energises me.  I love figuring out ways to take technology, get it in customer’s hands.

So what motivates a mentor?  Why do we give our time freely?

[Image changes to show a side view of Martin Duursma at the podium]

First, I think there’s a sense of giving back.

Second, it’s a very energising experience.

[Image has changed back to Martin Duursma talking to the camera]

Being able to leverage the experience and the knowledge that I’ve had over many years of taking technology to market

and now working with fantastic teams that are here in the ON programme, helping them take their products and ideas to the market place and hopefully one of these teams that we’re mentoring can make it big and we’d be part of that.
